The Toolkit is a great example of what we can achieve when the industry works together, sharing expertise and developing good practice.
LGMA NSW would like to thank the 80+ subscribing councils for their vision in supporting the Toolkit in its early years, and thank all the people involved in developing the modules as members of the Development and Review teams. LGMA NSW encourages you to use the Modules, and to use the opportunities to communicate your own good practice to fellow practitioners.
Beginning the journey
In April 2006, LGMA NSW assembled a group of stakeholders from the local government industry to workshop the proposal to develop a Good Practice Toolkit for local authorities in New South Wales.
LGMA NSW acknowledged the work done by our sister association in New Zealand, SOLGM, who have successfully developed Good Practice Toolkits for the New Zealand local councils.
At the April 2006 meeting the Focus Group developed a list of components for the Toolkit modules, and identified activities which could be developed into Toolkit modules. The Group also identified potential module topics, and developed a list of Modules for early development.
